The One Camera Setting Guests Get Wrong

Almost every guest arrives with capable gear — a modern mirrorless body handles aurora photography better than anything we used a decade ago. The mistake is almost always the same: a shutter speed left over from daytime habits, either too slow and blurring the curtain’s structure, or too fast and losing the display’s actual color.

We teach manual exposure on-site, on each guest’s own camera, in the first twenty minutes of the first clear night — not in a classroom beforehand, where none of it sticks until you’re standing under the actual sky.
